Destiny Door Dream
The upward ramp leading to the aircraft looked like a winding narrow maze. Running late for my flight, I struggled with heavy luggage. No matter how hard I tried, the wheels wouldn’t roll as fast as I wanted. It seemed the more I yanked them forward, the pathway in front of me grew longer.
Suddenly, I found myself inside the gate. The plane had not yet boarded, and I wished I hadn’t expended so much energy worrying. I no longer had bags weighing me down and felt relieved. The gate looked like a small room and had several doors aligning each wall. Somehow, I knew each door represented a specific destiny promise.
In the corner of the room I saw a power-driven loom weaving a large, colorful tapestry. I stood there gazing at it in wonder amazed by the vibrant colors and intricate detail. As passengers began boarding the plane, I woke up from my dream.
Come Up Higher
Come Up Higher is a word I received from three dreams I had in 2019 about boarding aircraft. The general theme in the dreams were the same. In order to board the planes, or come up higher with God, I needed to get rid of things that weighed me down. The luggage, I believe, represented worries I’d been carrying which kept me from moving forward into the fullness God had planned for me.
At the time of my aircraft dreams, I had been sinking into the deadly trap of comparisons. The way I viewed myself became distorted because I fell for the lie that I needed to keep pace with everyone else—or follow the same path I saw others following— that my path was somehow inferior because circumstances weren’t lining up as quickly as I envisioned.
Jesus is the Gateway
I am the Gate for the flock . . . I am the Gateway. To enter through me is to experience life, freedom, and satisfaction. A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow! – John 10:9-10
In this particular dream, I found myself suddenly inside the gate leading to the aircraft. This came after I had apparently released the worry delaying me from moving forward. Once inside the gate, I saw the destiny doors. They were closed, but not locked. I have to wonder why I didn’t burst through each one, knowing all offered an amazing gift or opportunity. Instead, I was drawn to the power-driven loom.
I think God wanted to show me, first, the interlacing of the various threads that created the beauty of the tapestry, so that ultimately, I could understand how He is fashioning His flock. I needed to be reminded that God is sovereign— and that He is uniquely positioning me (and you) to fit into His masterpiece so that we can experience His best.
The Purpose of a Loom
Wikipedia describes a loom as a device used to weave cloth and tapestry. The basic purpose of any loom is to hold the warp threads under tension to facilitate the interweaving of the weft threads.
A loom requires both a warp and a weft in order to function. One must facilitate the other. Both are essential in weaving a tapestry and one is not more important. Romans 12:4-6 in the Passion Translation states: In the human body there are many parts and organs, each with a unique function. And so it is in the body of Christ. For though we are many, we’ve all been mingled into one body in Christ. This means that we are all vitally joined to one another, with each contributing to the others . . . God’s marvelous grace imparts to each one of us varying gifts and ministries that are uniquely ours.
Believing we are distinctively created for different purposes is key in becoming successful confident stewards. Comparisons should never enter in because we are not all called to be ballerinas or scientists. But, we are all called to be someone special in our sphere of influence. Just like a loom, we need each other’s unequaled qualities to function effectively in the process.
Keep Asking Keep Seeking Keep Knocking
“Ask, and the gift is yours. Seek, and you’ll discover. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. For every persistent one will get what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he longs for. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door.” – Matthew 7:7-8
To come up higher and receive the desires of our hearts, we must play a role in opening our destiny doors. Faith requires action and we are commissioned to be coworkers with Christ. It’s up to us to discover our passion and purpose, fine-tune our skills, and aim for excellence. Once we set our gaze on Jesus, and let go of sins that hinder us, then we can cross over the threshold and receive our breakthrough.
If you find yourself constantly struggling to find an open door, keep checking your heart and receive prayer. Take time with the Lord and ask Him to show you what may need pruning or maturing within your spirit. Seek wise counsel and trust in His timing and provision. God cares about your dreams. If the desire of your heart is pure and aligned with His will, then He will be faithful to lead you. You can be sure He has a door, specifically designed with you in mind!
